Hmm the hives is odd. Could it be a reaction to medication or stint?

Re: end stage pancreatic cancer what to expect

Hello Luppie, I have been reading all your posts about PC your mom has been going through. I has helped me to understand what others are going through so we have some idea what to expect with my father-in-law who was diagonosed with this horrible disease in mid May 2009. I was wondering how she is doing now? My heart goes out to you and your family!
My father-in-law didn't want any kind of treatment only the proceedure to bypass the bile blockage. He has a bag that holds the dranage from the bile and has to empty it. They could not do the stent everyone has been talking about....too much swelling and so forth. It really helps to talk to others that are going through this. thanks any further info on this would be very helpful.

We were just trying to play a game and my mom had to get up and go back to bed.........very tired as well as her stomach is hard and sore working from left to middle. Thanks from ma thel

Hi there. My dad did nothave a have a hard stomach, but it was expanding from the bile building up (they could not put a stent in due to the tumor being too large).

    Fatigue is very very common......

Feel free to also email me any time

Re: end stage pancreatic cancer what to expect

    Hello group:
My mom is not doing so well anymore. Last night was nauseas and throwing up and other symptoms are picking at the bedclothes and having these terrible hallucinations. She is extremely weak but still can make the bathroom during the day (most of the time) and other than that uses the bedside commode. Her skin is getting darker (not yellow, just darker). I had hospice come in today to do an evaluation again due to the symptoms changing again and they are giving the 24 hour constant care just to see what’s what. I am feeling that i only have 3 to 5 weeks left....any comments? Thanks to all and god bless

    Hi K and all:
Yes she is still doing the ensure and forcing down a little breadpudding with milk 2 times a day plus a little pudding in the middle of the day....all and all it adds up to aprox 1 1/2 cup for the whole day. I did receive some good advice from that new support group which seems to be good. i am going to present those thoughts to the hospice nurse today. Thanks again and I will post soon as time allows.

Hi all, My father-in-law is about where your mom is. He's not eating much and very fatigued. He was a loveable guy before this.... like loved hugs and kisses and now man don't touch him!! He must be in more pain than he is telling everyone. I understood yesterday that he was very sick so I'm assuming the nausea and vomiting. It's nice to read about what everyone else is going through.

My dad was the same very lovable outgoing but as the disease progressed he pulled away some tho he was always telling us he loved us till the end. Its my understanding that those with this begin to disconnect as time moves on have heard that alot....

Wow so sad!! It's a shame to see such a loveable person turn into someone you don't know Huh? I was really happy to see him smile tho on Sunday when almost the whole family showed up at church and sat with him during the service! We figured soon he won't be able to go so we all went with him. At least what is comforting to know that he knows the Lord and says often that he's going home to be with Jesus!!

Well mom is not doing very good she is nausea all day and can't eat the only thing that she will eat is ice cream and it is only a table spoon at a time about 4 times a day will drink ensure sometimes. She is getting very weak and turning very dark. Hospice tells us it is one of the stages she will go throught is is very hard to see her like this when she was always very active. Thank You for your concern.

Hey Luppie, Your quite wecome and I totally understand how u are feeling. My Father-in-law is in the same stage your mom is. You explained that to the T!! We don't have hospice for him yet. He don't want it so we don't know what to expect cos we have no one telling us. We find out stuff on our own. Did hospice give you any idea how much longer before they pass? How good is hospice to have with you through this terrible ordeal?

Wow I just read a post from K2626 from a few months ago and she said once the patient started to throw up bile they are close to the end! That is what my Father-in-law has been doing for the last couple of days. Tuesday night he was up all night throwing up. Mom was beside herself and felt so helpless. She told me yesterday that if he has another night like that he isn't going to make it. GOD BLESS US ALL!!

Donnamae, my friend's mom did the same thing the night before she passed. My best friend didn't but she had drains in her liver in several places. Is your father-in-law's breathing different? It can become more shallow as the body shuts down. So sorry you are going through this
