Hi Mel, Thanks for the kind words! His breathing so far seems to be normal but he has had 2 nights in a row of throwing up. He does have a drain in his side to help the blockage in the bile but mum said this is what he is spitting up and the drainage bag has turned dramatically darker. I have not had the chance to call this morning and see how he did last night. Thanks again for the info.

Hey donnamae Hospice has been good they come every Monday and check on mom and bring her ensure and we get all her meds throught them. No they have not gave us a time limit they just told us that the reason she is getting sick is that the cancer is spreading. But they are great to talk to if you have any question they can answer them, and they tell us what to expect. They are great.

Donnamae could it be the drain needs to be redone? My friend had hers redone as she was very brown. She was already in the hospital when they changed it. She was more comfortable and was able to go home. It bought some time for her.

Thank you Luppie, I thought they were really good. I am going to suggest this to the family tonight. And Mel, I thought that the bag thing maybe isnt working like it should and he needed to go to the hospital. But, he refuses to go anywhere at this point in his 83 year old life and he said it's time for him to go home to be with Jesus. We have to abide by his wishes. We all wish there was something we can do for him but I think the best thing is to try to get Hospice in there right now! Thank you all and God Bless us all....

I understand. Once my friend was home, she stayed home. As her daughter-in-law said (she's a nurse) if she went back in the hospital again, she would be poked with needles etc. Hospice became involved but my friend was gone within a few days. Hugs to you.

Thanks for the hugs!! : ) I'm just wondering how long this throwing up all night is going to last! From what mom says it's awful and she said in between he says I just wanna die. That is so heart wrenching!! : (

Re: end stage pancreatic cancer what to expect

    Hi k:
Welcome back. My mom is getting towards the end now. She is not eating or drinking anything for the past 24 hrs or so. We thought she was going the other night but she is still hanging in there. We have had some really rough roads with the meds but they seem to have them fixed now. They leave her in a comatose state but no pain, so thats the good thing. How long can she last with no food or drink?
I a just praying for the end to come soon now. Thanks fonda

I am sorry to hear this. It does sound like she is very close to the end. My dad stopped eating and passed 2 to 3 days after. I know what you mean by wanting the end to come, I felt the same for my Dad as I did not want to see him suffer anymore.

    You are in my prayers....

Yes even in the earlier stages he would see bugs etc as time neared he saw a little girl jump roping and counting

It is part of the body shutting down

Also if one who is close they may say something like they have to pack for a trip, or get ready to travel etc
