Would appreciate any replies or advice

Was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer about 8 years
ago. After 2 years of "active surveillance" I decided to have the radioactive seed implant procedure. Had nasty aftereffects for several weeks but that resolved.

Lately I have symptoms like frequent urination and sometimes inability to control leaking. Have also been told I have a "stricture" in urethra which doctor dilated last week. Afterwards had awful symptoms like wanting to urinate but couldn't and simultaneously had rectal leaking due to pressure from trying to pee but could not.
I think these are referred to as "bladder spasms" and they are awful. Wanted to find out if other men have had such symptoms and what meds are given for it to control or to stop them. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

The initial burst of radiation from the seeds can disturb the lining of the intestines (which are also frequently dividing cells), in my experience the bowels get used to it after about 3 months.

A far as the urination problems is concerned I was warned it might happen and was fixed up with self administered catheters in case. As it turned out copious amounts of cranberry juice averted any problems - straining sounds like something to avoid, get a pack of catheters instead.

Good luck - I was seeded 9 years ago and have had no side effects for 8 and a half years.

Have you contacted your doctor about your symptoms? This might be the kind of issue that needs prompt attention.
