IMRT Update

The gift that keeps on giving: Radiation Dermatitis.
The other short term side effects have cleared up but RD still loves hanging around.Using about every cream and lotion known to man and that helps treat the symptoms but the RD does not go away. On Lupron for another 18 months.
[2 months post IMRT]

Do not regret doing IMRT regardless of the long term outcome.

Compared to what I read on various forums from men who had RP, your issues are pretty trivial.

Not to imply that you shouldn’t be annoyed, but, wow, the posts about incontinence, ED, penis shortening, climacturia, and other results of surgery, should reinforce your choice of treatment.

I would not call constant severe itching and edema in the crack of one's *** and the buttocks on each side trivial.[ Diaper Rash ++ ] The creams and lotions make it tolerable and sometimes a couple of Tylenol.
BTW - Lupron SHRUNK EVERYTHING gentials in my case. Lupron gives new meaning to the movie title : "Honey, I shrunk the Kids". Hopefully it is reversible after I'm off Lupron 6 months or a year.

I'm still very glad that I chose the IMRT / ADT road over surgery regardless of the long term results. One of my co -workers had a RP done almost 2 years ago and he still is leaking urine. Not Good.

Some humor in everything, I suppose. You refer to "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" and I think of the "Amazing Shrinking Man". Need to correct that to "Incredible Shrinking Man".

Julie used to like to play with the jewels, now can hardly find them for all the surrounding tissue. My testicles are the only items that were shrunk due to lupron. I'm working hard to make sure the other doesn't.

Two more months and we see what returns and what changes. I've been very lucky so far and you are doing pretty well, too, compared to the crap the other gents have endured.

Best of luck to you.

Just thought a little humor would fit and the parts shrunk are 1/2 of the procreation process. [Thus "shrinking the kids" ]
