    Embolization or Radiation

I have prostate cancer and the cancer has spread to the bladder also to the bones. Last September I had 17 radiation treatments on the affected areas (pelvis and lymph node). Two months ago I started having blood in my urine. My Urologist did a cystoscopy about 2 weeks ago which confirmed aggressive prostate cancer and prostate cells in the bladder. I have been wearing a Foley catheter since the bleeding started (approx. 2 months ago). My Oncologist wants me to do 20 sessions of radiation to the prostate and bladder starting next week. I saw my Urologist this morning and he is very adamant about having embolization performed and hold off on the radiation. I have been receiving Eligard shots monthly for 11 months and the Oncologist is starting me on Zytiga (250mg 4 pills a day) tomorrow, supplemented by Prednisone 5mg. I have to make a decision! Embolization or Radiation. Has anyone else been through these processes? Comments would be appreciated.

No experience with the specific issue.

You've heard the urologist's opinion about which comes first. Did he reach out to the oncologist and discuss it with him before contradicting him?

What does the oncologist say about postponing his treatment recommendation for the urologist's recommendation?

These are all tough call for any of us. It would be helpful to know if your 80 or 45 years old. Sometimes just treating to get 5 or 10 years is different than trying to get 35 years. Just saying...
