Social Security Disability (SSDI) and PCa

I looked at another forum for ssdi and that forum isn't vey active.
My question only applies to PCa.
Does anyone have experience with SS disablilty as it relates to PCa. Social Security says that Advanced PCa is an automatic approval, with documentation.
I have many more question but will wait for a reponce.

The general rule for social security disability is that the condition has to be serious enough to render the applicant unable to work for a year or longer or expected to lead to his death.

However, some illnesses are serious enough that its just presumed that someone qualifies and that's on the SSA website.

For Prostate cancer, it has either be hormone refractory, or has it has spread to soft organs.

Here's the list. PS- I used to work for social services.

I could be wrong -- and hope I am, for your sake -- but a "conventional" case of PC is probably not something that would qualify for SSD.

Ironically, I was DXd with PC the year after I was granted SSD because of extreme arthritis from head to toe. I was on SSD for aout 2 years at the time of my surgery -- just after I was switched over to Medicare, which paid most of the bill.

My advice is for you to contact a well reputed attorney who specializes in Disability and pose your question to him/her. Such a person would be able to tell you immediately (in a free consultation) whether this would qualify you for SSD.

    Good luck!

I believe if you are diagnosed Stage 4 you will qualify.

Thanks I was sent to that page from Social Security page. I just filled out my online request for SS and the questions asked let to them sending me to that page.
Most Cancers require you not being able to work in a physical job. But if your placed in stage 4 cancers and are not working your qualified.
My buddys wife ended up hospitalize before passes from cancer. He got the standard 255 death benifit. But the SS office said how long was she out of work? They back dated her SS Disability 14 months, was a nice healthy check.
I should add the reasons for SS Disability isn't for not only not being able to work, but for bills accured after initial treatments and reccurance. "There wording".
