Hi Guys
I just got finish with 25 radiation treatments and now i'm Scheduled to go in for prostate sizing in order to put radioactive seeds into my prostate, has anyone heard of this before? And was the 25 treatments a waste of time?

Re: Prostate Sizing

You didn't mention your risk category. External beam radiation (25-30 IMRT treatments) with a brachytherapy (seeds) boost is a common treatment for high risk prostate cancer, usually with hormone therapy as well. There are other strategies that work as well, but that is a recommended approach by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network.

Unfortunately, it is also sometimes given for intermediate or even low risk prostate cancer, and is overkill, imho, resulting in unnecessary side effects of treatment. Radio Therapy Clinics of Georgia touts their version of this that they call ProstRCision.
