Anyone use local painkiller Exparel?

My CS told me of a new ( out now 2 years) local painkiller for rectal surgery called Exparel. It is being used for post op pain from hemmoridectomies & rectal polyps. It is supposed to give you 3 days of no pain, but after it wears off, you're on your own with pain meds. I'm having 2 rectal polyps removed in July 2013, and I said I wanted it. The cost: $287, for the drug, and the private insurance companies are not paying for it. Medicare covers it. It is FDA approved. Now I'm really getting it up the rear! Has anyone here used it? How did it work?
