worried about new mole/marks

Hi, I discovered a new mole/mark on my back today. I was at the doctors anyway for an appointment so thought will I am here I will show the doc. I was worried when she asked me to wait back to see a senior doc and when she looked they were talking about an abnormal shape (asymmetrical) and discolouring in and they have referred me to the 'mole clinic' I really wasnt expecting that and I came out with the shakes. I am only 37, I dont use sunbeds and havent even been abroad to enjoy any sun since I was a child. I am very pale and I sometimes burn but never tan, its a standing joke with friends how pale I am.

Prob over reacting but I am now really worried

Re: worried about new mole/marks

Totally understandable and you arent overreacting. Is it a possibility that it's a seborrhea keratosis which can have irregular borders and change colours, or it's something that's not even a mole.
The fact that you are being sent to a specialist clinic is important. Hope you don't have to wait too long for the appointment.....

My husband and sister have had cancers removed, basal and squamous. I had basal on my face, and used a cream to deal with it. As long as you're checked regularly you will be able to be on top of any abnormalities. I have lots of seborrhea keratosis popping up on my back and abdomen....havent been in the sun since 1985, but I used to burn terribly. There are now some other weird painful bumps that have appeared and I have to get them checked next month. I'm nervous too.

I'm pale as well.....veins show obviously. Lol...my brother used to be called Minnow.

Please let us know the outcome.

Thank you Quincy for your reply. I am a worrier and having anxiety at the best of times these things set me off completely!! The mole isnt raised like some of my others, it seems flat if that makes sense? No borders and then a red mark round it and a smaller one just below the bigger one.

I hope your appointment goes well for you next month and yes, I will post how I get on

Re: worried about new mole/marks

Thank you!

I'm with you on the worrier part. Having a list of questions for the doc and writing down what he/she suspects is helpful. If yiunhave biopsy or removal and pathology, get a copy for your records.

I look forward to your results.
