    Initial mole removal appointment.

Hi everyone Iím only new to this, so I do apologize in advance if I am rambling.

Iím getting a mole removed tomorrow from my shoulder on suspicion of it being melanoma. I went for a full skin check in May and everything was fine, Iíd say I have around 50-60 moles in total.

About 3 months later, I noticed one changing went back to my dermatologist 2 weeks ago, who referred me on to a surgeon, who I had my consultation with last week. I know itís only early stages, and I havenít even been diagnosed yet, but I just got such a scare from the consultation. The consultant was just very concerned, going into treatment and discussing things that hadnít even crossed my mind. He says as it stands he thinks thereís a 30% chance it will be nothing, and is optimistic itíll have been caught early.

Iím just worried and getting very nervous now, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what to expect? Just in regards to how long it can take, and just recovery time.

Thank you so much in advance for any advice, even the smallest amount of information you have.

    Hi Mary,

Based on the date of your post, you should have received the results of the biopsy on the mole that was removed by now. I went through the same about 14 months ago. The biopsy results took about 3 weeks. I do hope you received good news in return.

I hope you were in that 30% and got good news!! It is so scary waiting for results and then dealing with them when it isn't good news. I hope everything is working out for you.
