    Biopsy on Wed...spot on nose...afraid

    HI all

I am having a biopsy on my nose on Wed. I have had a brown spot there for a very long time. Had a skin check and Doc found another spot on my forehead. I never sit inthe sun and when I amin the sun I use a lot of lotion. there is no family HX. I am afraid of the biopsy and the numbing. Does it it hurt. I am also afraid of the result. this is my first experience with amy skin stuff. I would appriciate any support or information.

    Thanks in advance

    Marie

GR thank you for your support.

It is done and wasn't too bad. the needle hurt some. she biopsy two spots on my nose and froze on on my forehead. Now yes the waiting game. Stiches come out in 14 days...she thinks it may be a basil cell. It still hurts some.

    thank you

    Hello Marie!

I'm glad you got through the biopsy! I think most of the time it's the fear of the unknown that gets to us. It sounds as if you might have basal cell, which is not all that uncommon. You don't have to have a family history for that, and it usually is caused by exposure to the sun's rays. Now, you need to remember that it doesn't take direct exposure to the sun. The sun's ultraviolet rays are bouncing off of concrete, snow, almost any surface. So you can be sitting in the shade and still be exposed. It takes consistent use of sunscreen to protect yourself. But you'll get use to that!

Keep us updated on your progress. There are a lot of people who have had basal cell cancer on their faces (nose, forehead, cheek), and the reconstruction surgeries are fabulous! You'll do fine!

My biopsy on my nose was done on the 18th. So I am waiting as well.

I can see a stitch sticking out on top and am always going after it thinking its some fuzz or something! lol.
The procedure went well. But I base the pain level against having lip augmentation *for total vanity reasons and there is alot of pain with that. Seems the numbing meds just didn't quite do it with the lip aug, but for the biopsy it went fine..
I am hoping everyone's results are negative. And mine too!!
I am so happy to learn you are not taking the "wait and see" approach. It's good to just see what they are and get rid of em!!
    ((((hugs))

Re: Biopsy on Wed...spot on nose...afraid

I just got my results from the biopsy. it is good news and not so good news. Good news that it is not cancer but pre cancer. So I guess I have to go and have it all removed. The doctor said that it has cut more out and go wider and deeper. I will be getting my stiches out from the biopsy on tues and will know more then. But that God it could be worse.

    YaY!! marette!! Great News!!

I was told to use Aldara. (no. that is NOT going to happen.)

Also the two tiny little holes from the stitches *I removed, are visible. Considering some nice TCA chemical peels when all healed.

So happy to hear for you!

    Thank you starryGal

I went and they remove my stiches and said that all they have to do is burn it off. So they did and I have a follow up in 3 months. So far no more surgery.

Marette, remember skin cancer is not always from the sun.

It can be from tars, solvents, arsenic exposure through water. Lack of Vit D. Make sure to take Vit D supplements daily to prevent any type of cancer.

The very best to you !!!!!and keep on top of those precancers.

    Oleander
