Re: Recently diagnosed with Uterine Serous Carcinoma
Hello, White female 62 diagnosed with UPSC in 2018. It was stage1. Had a full Laparoscopic hysterectomy, 3 rounds of chemo and 4 brachytherapy radiation treatments. All doctors seem to feel everything was OK, my ca-125 fell to 6. When the covid nonsense started in 4/2019 Penn Medicine called and cancelled my follow-up apt due to covid issues. Why a covid patient would see a gynecologist is beyond me, but that's what happened. About 4 months later I ordered my own ca-125 test through another clinic (thought, oh well, might as well check) and got result ca-50. Called Penn Medicine and it was agreed my cancer had returned. Once I started another round of chemo ca went up to around 230. Had six rounds of chemo including Avastin, Taxol and cisplatin. The result was c-125 went up to 600 and eventually down but up again nearly exactly when I started at ca-230. Am now on Avastin maintenance which I'm starting to hate. At the end the chemo wasn't working.
I'm arranging for a 2nd opinion at Dana Farber in Boston which specializes in rare cancers. Interesting, have discovered vitamins and been taking high dosages of D3, zinc, C, and believe they are helping. But, it's hard to tell. Trying to keep my stress level down, but am another one who had an abusive childhood and excessive stress through life. I've read UPSC posts mentioning the stress "issue" as well. Studies have not shown any conclusive reason why UPSC suddenly appears. I was a coffee addict but never smoked, rarely drank alcohol, exercise addict and vegetarian. My sister who has done all of these: cigar smoking, alcohol, red meat, etc. no cancer. My recurrence came back fairly quickly, have no idea why and neither do my doctors. At this point, my instincts are pointing to the vitamins, especially D3. Anyway, that's my UPSC story.
