Unhappy Follicular Lymphoma - Duodenal Type

My Husband who is 58yrs has just today been diagnosed with a subtype of Follicular Lymphoma apparently Indolent (slow growing). He's been referred to a Specialist Haematologist/Oncologist for follow up and will be referred for a full body PET scan. Any information on what we can expect now would be very welcome..

Hi, I have just joined these boards from the sister cancer network site, you may want to post on the Lymphoma board as a few of us have moved over and we can offer advice and support re your husbands FNHL. You will have seen the specialist by now so have they recommended treatment or is he on watch and wait.
Update us and we can offer more advice about the disease and how its managed and when it comes to treatment, what it was like when we had it.

    regards
    John

Hi, Sorry to hear that! Well, after diagnosis it is very important to treat the disease. Your doctor/specialist may suggest getting treated with chemotherapy plus rituximab, which has improved response rates, duration of response and overall survival.

Hi Positivebio, Follicular NHL is classes as a low grade type of lymphoma and the are many people across the world who have been diagnosed with this and other types of low grade disease. Not all of them will need treatment at the point of diagnosis and it is not unknown for people to go years before the disease needs to be treated.
