Morphine used for cancer patients who get out of bed?
Hey,
Is it normal to give cancer patients who is near-death (stage 4) morphine because they kept getting out of bed in the middle of the night confused? He's in the hospice program and the nurse said to give him morphine. I thought morphine could cause even more confusion and maybe hallucinations? My dad has stage 4 cancer and is getting close to the end and he's getting up in the middle of the night, confused (I don't know how he's getting out of bed himself when he's so weak). I'm concerned morphine is going to make the confusion worse, not better and I thought it was only used for pain and fast breathing. Anyone ever heard of someone that sick getting morphine because he kept getting out of bed, confused in the middle of the night?
Thanks.
