Question Biopsy - is this normal

My husband went in for a colonoscopy and the "throat scope". After the procedure they informed us that they removed numerous samples for biopsy and to follow up with our family doctor in 10-14 days.

We saw our doctor 15 days later and he had no results at all, the surgeon also had no results. Doctor said to check with office in 3 days as they should be there by then, still nothing. The nurse informed us that sometimes they send them to another specialist/lab for further testing/ diagnosis. And she flagged his file so that we can get an answer no matter what.

We have been stressed out with worry as expected, as this was also not a routine check - he has a lot of pain, bowel changes and anywhere from streaks to massive bleeding.

It has now been 21 days and still no word - is it normal for biopsies to take this long?

Re: Biopsy - is this normal

It took me about 2-3 weeks if I can remember correctly to finally get my first results and even longer for the second set of tests they did on my lymph node they removed. It is very frustrating not knowing.
