| Candida/Allergies/TMJ..anyone?
Hello!
I'm a 24 year old female who has recently been diagnosed with Candida as well as multiple inhalant, chemical, and food allergies. I have a classic history of frequent antibiotic, birth control pill, and steroid usage. I saw a clinical ecologist who tested and diagnosed me and put me on the yeast diet, Nystatin, Diflucan, and nutritional supplements. In addition, he customized my yeast diet to exclude all foods I'm allergic to and has me rotate the foods I can eat. Also, I'm going to be starting allergy shots next week. I have symptoms affecting nearly every part of my body. I have headaches, dizziness, itchy ears/ear pain, postnasal drainage, sinus pain, sore throat, difficulty swallowing, chest pain, muscle weakness/twitching, vaginal discharge/itching, blurry vision, and numerous stomach complaints. I've had all kinds of tests including blood work, liver and heart profiles, vision tests, EKGs, pelvic exams, and gallbladder/stomach tests. So far, everything has been negative/normal except for the allergy tests.
About the same time these other symptoms began, I also started noticing pain in my jaw area and a slight popping noise when opening my jaw. Also, I have stiff neck/neck pain and some back pain. I mentioned these symptoms to my dentist who said "You most likely have TMJ. I'll refer you to a specialist." Well, the specialist gave me some things to try like applying heat to my jaws and neck, wearing a splint at night to keep from grinding teeth, and even suggested seeing a chiropractor for neck and back adjustments. I haven't seen the chiropractor yet, but I've been using the splint and the heat and so far, haven't had much improvement.
I'm just wondering if anyone else out there has Candida and TMJ? I'm just curious if there is a connection between these two diseases. I know that Candida can cause arthritis-like symptoms and joint/muscle pain, so why couldn't it affect your TMJ joint? I have so many symptoms and it's hard to know which ones are coming from my Candida, which ones from allergies, or which ones from TMJ! A lot of TMJ symptoms overlap with Candida and allergy symptoms, such as headaches, dizziness, blurry vision, and sinus pain. Anyone else have these same diseases? Any success in treating all of them simultaneously? I'd love to hear anyone else's thoughts on this. Thanks! |

Sorry I can't help you out, I tried to do some research on this, but I can't find anything that really says if candida and TMJ have a correlation between them. Sorry about that...I have pretty bad TMJ as well, but I just deal with it since my primary doctor just thinks I'm a stupid kid who complains too much. But hopefully you will find the answers you are looking for. If you ever need someone to talk to, let me know!

I do have candidiasis (sp?) AND TMJ AND a whole bunch of autoimmunities. I found an Acupuncturist/OMD (Oriental medical physician) 18 years ago who brought me back to life and helped me maintain a sense of balance...don't ask how...I couldn't begin to explain, HOWEVER... through her, I've learned to pay attention to my body in an entirely different way (than I ever had before) and can now zero in on problems that may occur without having to go around in circles with the Western Doctors (whom I also see, in addition to the acupuncturist.) I would have died many times over, were it not for this woman, by the way. When blood tests found nothing, muscle testing revealed the truth. Just beware of charlatans of any kind. They exist in all sorts of healthcare arenas.
Good luck. Don't give up... It's not easy, I know, but hang tough!

24-year-old male, and I haven't been lucky enough to be actually diagnosed with anything. The doctors I've seen look at me for two minutes and make a pronouncement without any tests or anything. My symptoms:
Headaches
Itchy/painful ears
Postnasal drip
Sore, scratchy throat
Inflamed, white, painful tongue
Sore teeth
Clicking & painful jaw
I got an ill-fitting nightguard a year and a half ago, but stopped wearing it because it just made my teeth hurt more. The tongue and throat stuff is relatively new (going on three months now, I think, though the tongue did the same thing when I was sick back in February and got better in a few days) and I got Amoxicillin that seemed to work a little bit, and now I'm on Nasacort AQ for supposed allergies, which I don't think is doing anything.
