candida diflucan - dosage?

I was prescribed Diflucan / Fluconazole 200Mg daily to rid my system of yeast overgrowth. For as long as I can remember my tongue has had a white coating on it and I could never get rid of it. I went to a practioner that specializes in biometrics and she told me I have a systemic yeast overgrowth. I was on Nystatin 6 pills a day for a month which didn't do anything noticable and now at my last followup appointment I was given Diflucan 200mg to take daily for 30 days and then follow up for lver function blood work and likely take it for another 30 days.

I was getting ready to take it for the first time and was looking up the side effects on the internet when I saw that dosing is usually much less. i.e. a single 200mg does for a vaginal yeast infection and only saw 200mg doses for extended periods of time with noticeably serious overgrowths, like Disseminated Candidiasis

Has anyone else used Diflucan to treat thrush and possibly more systemic yeast overgrowth and if so what was your regimine... I am just questioning weather I am over doing it with this dose for so long??

Re: candida diflucan - dosage?

So long as your doctor is careful to maintain liver function testing, there is no problem. Diflucan 200mg is the treatment of choice for systemic yeast and fungal infections.
Your 30-day course is very intensive and indicates that your doctor is convinced that you have a deeply seated infection. The same dosage and duration is recommended for toenail fungus.

Usual dose would be 200mg on the first day, then 100mg each day for 2-4 weeks
