Sudden onset?

Hi all,

this is slightly awkward but I really would appreciate your advice. I've already got an appointment with the doctor but I've been worrying incessantly about what's going on.

About three days ago while I was having sex I rested a lot of my body weight on my left hand and it started to go numb. I didn't pay all that much attention to it and expected the numbness to go away but I had this tingling sensation in my thumb, index and middle finger which didn't go away during the night or the next day. I looked it up and it turns out these are the symptoms of CTS, even though I had never experienced any CTS symptoms before.

Ever since then these three fingers have felt somewhat numb and tingly. After reading up I started taking vitamin B supplements and have been wearing a splint at night which has helped me somewhat.

My question is can carpal tunnel syndrome appear suddenly just like that or is it more likely I have some kind of tendonitis and the inflammation is affecting my median nerve?
