    Carpal Tunnel Pain

I had carpal tunnel surgery two weeks ago in my left hand. I have full use of my left hand, now, but noticed it still hurts when I try to picks something up with that hand. Shouldn't it be healed by know? What am I missing?

As far as I'm aware, there's no set time for healing. Some people take longer than others based on age, diet, exercise and overall health status. And it would also depend on how heavy the item is that you're trying to pick up. I wouldn't try to push it beyond what you can handle comfortably. Sometimes healing just takes a lot of patience.

It takes a while to heal. Whatever you do, if you need your other hand done, wait at least 6 months. I waited 3 months in between surgeries on each hand and got CTS in my right hand again. I had to have a second surgery in my right hand.

    Re: Carpal Tunnel Pain

My mom had the surgery and told me that it continued to hurt for almost 3 months! One day she stopped complaining and I asked...hows your hand? And she laughed and said "I guess its better, I hadn't noticed".
Moral of the story is - give it time..it will heal when it heals. Unfortunately there is no set time limit... Try not to overuse it meanwhile- its only been a few weeks. You need to give the muscles more time to heal.
