Endoscopic vrs. Open Carpal Tunnel Release & Weightlifting/Bodybuilding
Anyone have advice/experience in whether there is a long-term difference in returning to the gym and weightlifting (bench pressing etc.) in having the procedure preformed endoscopically versus open? If you have any information I would appreciate a response as soon as possible as I have surgery scheduled in this week. Thanks.

I had the open type surg on both wrists when I was still lifting. I think it probably takes a little longer to get back to 100% but I had great results and eventually was back to benching 340+ lbs. I did notice that on my right hand every once in a while if I didnt have the bar just right in the palm of my hand i would get some pain where the scar is. Nothing terrible though. I have heard that you get better results with the open type. A guy I work with had the scope type and didnt get as good of results that I did but that was about 8 yrs ago too. So in my experience I had great results with the open type and was still able to get back to pushing some pretty heavy weight
