After Surgery Burning Pain ? ?

Hello, I am new here. I just had bilateral carpel surgery Sept. 13, 2004. I feel like I traded one pain for another. Surgery went fine but I am having so much trouble gripping and the strength in my hands is not good at all. I almost constantly have a buring sensation in my wrist and palms of hands. Anyone else have this problem and what can I do to relieve the pain? I am a self-employed hairdresser and need to get back to work asap. Monday will be 4 weeks since surgery, am I expecting to much too soon? Hope someone can help.

Thanks Bill, I had PT the first week, but due to insurance loss that was it. I do all the exercises at home. I thought perhaps I was rushing things in order to get back to work. I did call PT and am going this morning for the ultra sound therapy. I am hoping that relieves some of this burning. I appreciate knowing others experiences. Having both hands done at the same time is an experience in itself! The left seems worse for me. But that is over and on with the healing process. Charlotte

Bill, I decided to go back to therapy and try the ultra sound. It made a world of difference! It helped the burning and the shooting pains in the writst and palm area of my hands. I am going to try and do a few hair cuts on Monday and follow that up with more therapy in the afternoon. Just taking one day at a time and see how it goes this week. Monday is just 4 weeks post-op for me. Thanks for you help. Charlotte
