It wouldn't surprise me. I was tested for that also. It was negative, but found that my problem was coffee with milk in it in the morning, didn't work well. I have been fine ever since I switched to just black in the morning. Funny thing is, I can have a latte or mocha in the afternoon and be just fine. Hope you find out what you need to know.

    Stansnet,

    Your observation is right on.

There is a much higher incidence of thyroid disorder in celiacs than in the normal population. This has been well documented in numerous Italian studies (Italy & Europe in general are decades ahead of the USA in testing for & understanding celiac disease). In celiac children, for example, approx 25% are either hypo or occasionally hyper, and usually this is autoimmune thyroid disease.

Celiac disease is understood to be genetic, or at least there is a genetic predisposition towards it. As I understand it, the same genes that predispose one to autoimmune celiac disease can predispose one towards other AI disease, like AI thyroid disease.

IMO that does add up to a hereditary link.
