Sensory problems

My daughter who just turned 2 was just diagnosed with hypotonic CP. She is globally delayed and has sensory issues. Some of her sensory problems seem a lot like autism symptoms. I've read on past posts that sometimes kids with CP can have some "autistic" like symptoms. Does anyone know of any books or web sources that have information about sensory problems associated with CP? I would love to know more about it.

Re: Sensory problems

Hi there Tina,
I'd love to share with you something a past physio of my sons said. I was talking to him about the issues of concentration and comprehension my son was exhibiting. He said that you have to expect delay in other areas other than physical development. CP is a brain injury so it makes sense that other aspects may be affected - for your daughter it may be sensory. I recently had my son tested by the ot and speechie and found there were certain gaps like his auditory memory and auditory processing skills. The good thing is, once you are on to it you can improve it with therapy. The best thing is to be proactive and hands on in their therapy regime.
Good luck
