social advice

I am 17 and a junior, I am shy and don't like large groups because of my cerebral palsy. I have a couple of friends and i feel like i be following one of them around a lot lately. this has been a rough year for me. My question is how do I stop being so clingy to my friend before i push her away?

Re: social advice

Hi Alexred,
I have no way to know exactly what you are going through, I have a son who is 7 with cp. But as a mother I would suggest trying to join a group, be it sporting or something that interests you. I feel your shyness but if you can join a group to do something that interests you, that may give you the confidence to venture into a different social circle. It needn't be at school, do you know any other kids with cp around your age? My son goes to a saturday group with other boys and loves catching up with them. I realise that being 17 that may be a bit of a young boy thing but just a suggestion. Maybe even just talk to your friend how you are feeling. If she is a good friend and she sounds like she is, then she will understand.
