    High levels of pyruvate

Does anyone know what high levels of pyruvate in a three year old means? They ran a bunch of blood tests for chromosones and fragile x and we are still waiting on those results, but they said all his other levels were elevated by a point or so, except for the pyruvate which is very elevated. The doctors don't say much except they will put it all together when the rest of the tests come back. In the mean time I sit and worry. He has learning disabilities and sensory issues and his speech is very delayed. If anyone knows anything about pyruvate I would greatly appreciate any information. Thanks.

    Re: High levels of pyruvate

I don't know much about pyruvate but here's what I do know. It's a naturally occuring substance(I think it's in apples) and it helps speed up metabolism. About 10 years ago, there was this hoopla about pyruvate that was supposed to help you lose weight and give you more energy.

keep us posted and good luck!
