I remember my pediatrician telling me that by two years old a child normally has 20 words in their vocabulary. Personally, I think it can be different for lots of kids though.

It could also depend on their personality. My daughter is two and she can pretty much say anything, she speaks very well and repeats everything I say. She says things like delicious, fantastic. She can take parital credit for herself because she has an outgoing personality, she always wants to learn and she picks on things quickly. I stay home with her and I spend all of my time with her and since she was a baby I explained everything to her and I continue to do that. I also like teaching her big words or different words to describe things instead of the typical responses so she can expand her vocabulary. So overall it can depend on personality and if they are being taught and/or receptive.

Im sure every two year old is different my two year old can say her ABC's count to twenty and talks in full sentences and thinks up quick comebacks when she answers questions I dont know where she gets the things she does sometimes.. But I am a stay at home mom and she is my only child so that could be the reason she is what I do all day.

I really believe it depends on the child. I think every child develops differently but if you are very concerned I would talk to your doctor about it. My son is 2 and says quite a lot of words, he can count and asks a lot of questions. He listens very intently when people are talking to him. I had a friend who's 2 year old did not talk much and she was concerned too but turns out he was just a late bloomer who is 5 now and talks all the time now.
