Re: smelly bowel movements and smelly urine
i am just wondering if that doc actually did ANY bloodwork on her? she really should have her liver and kidney functions checked out just given her symptoms. when you say her stomach is hard as a rock? is that a constant thing or does that come and go? if it is indeed constant, she really does need to have those labs checked out just to rule out possible liver issues and any possible kidney issues that with certain cases of liver issues can also impact the kidneys and vice versa. the liver in a 5 year old would still be palpable along the rib(kind of at the same area as the stomach would be). it gradually gets placed kind of tucked up under that ribcage with age. has she had ANY episodes of spontaneous type vomiting at all? even when she was an infant/toddler?
the strong smell of ammonia in her urine could be a possible sign of either liver or kidney invlovement of some kind too. this is just one of those better safe than sorry types of situations that really needs to be a bit further explored. just getting the liver and kidney functions checked out and also doing a study on her urine would at the very least either rule in or out any possible issues with her liver and kidneys at this point. she is just having some very odd symptoms for a five year old, thats all.
my youngest son was actually born with a kidney/liver disease that we had no clue even existed til he was 12. i did not know that i myself was born with the same kidney disease til our son got sick and we were told he had to have inherited from either myself or my hubby. i found out all this when i was around 40? you just never truely know what is going on in anyone til you take a bit more in depth look into it, ya know what i mean? i would just make certain that the childs doc is doing or at least DID bloodwork on her and also did that analysis on her urine. like i said, just precautionary and something that does simply need ruling out at this point. i do hope this is just something minor and she is fine, but please do make sure she gets the appropriate testing done to be sure. please let me know how things are going, Marcia
