    Extremely Uncomfortable Cast

My 8 yr old son has a cast on his leg. No broken bones, just bad sprain with possible damage to his growth plate. He has very sensitive skin and I am afraid that he has a rash under the cast. He has been SCREAMING since he got it on 3 days ago. He says it hurts, burns and is itches. Does anyone have a suggestion on how I can make him comfortable. We have been up several times throughout the night with this. Has anyone had a similar injury, and if so did you NEED a cast or was there some kind of brace you could use. We are at our wit's end already and we have at least three weeks to go.

    Re: Extremely Uncomfortable Cast

There may be something he is allergic to that is in the making of the cast itself. If this has been going on since he had it I would take him back to whoever put it on, or the ER and see if it can be removed and something else used. How can this go on for 3 more weeks? Not only your son, but it sounds like the entire family is suffering.

    My best of wishes...JJ...
