Very weak and fatigued - EBV?

Am currently fighting reactiviated EBV with 1000 mg L-Lysine and a low Arginine diet. Among a number of symptoms I have vestibular disturbance and extreme weakness. Can't drive, and there are days I can barely walk.

Anyone else dealing with reactivated EBV - ? Or has been diagnosted with CFS and tested positively for EBV as well?

Latest EBV test results:

EBV ab VCA IgM: 54.10 (Positive >43.9
EBV Early Antigen Ab, IgG: <9.0 (Positive is >10.9)
EBV Ab VCA IgG: >600.0 (Positive is >21.9)
EBV Nuclear Antigen Ab, IgG >600.0 (Positive is >21.9)

Because I test negative for EBV Early Antigen Ab, I am ignored by the CDC (or so I'm told). The other tests are ridiculously high (come on, 600 is impressive, right?), and I am lucky my doctor is a DO and willing to work on an EBV diagnosis. I did have mono when I was 18, I'm 51 now. Also had lyme disease about 10 years ago (Rocky Mtn Spotted); I keep testing negative but I'm probably still fighting it.

Can anyone offer advise to get me on the right track?

Many thanks,
Birch

Re: Very weak and fatigued - EBV?

Birch,

If you had Lyme and weren't treated long enough or aggressively enough (which is often the case) then it certainly is likely that your symptoms are related. Most of the population has had EBV and higher numbers almost always accompany LD. If this is correct, you need to work on the lyme infection. Were you treated by an LLMD (lyme literate medical doctor)? Most consider clinical symptoms first when diagnosing, tests only secondarily because of so many false negatives.

Best,

Tess
