Tired, Sleep a Lot, No Energy

I and doctors are trying to figure out the source of my lack of energy, moivation, and excessive sleep. I have had a sleep study test (results not back yet) and have been to an endocrinologist who is doing further tests on adrenals and thyroid. My psychiatrist thinks I need AN ADDITIONAL anti-depressant (onethat gives a little energy, the other is working on the OCD well), and my best friend says I am not depressed but it's the side-efect of my meds. I was also told today by the gyno I am officially in menopause. I have no mono and no lyme disease. I am getting very down about the way I feel and the way I am not functioning. How does one end up with a diagnosis of CF? I want a cure, but first I need the reason.

Re: Tired, Sleep a Lot, No Energy

Sorry you feel so bad.

I suggest that you get copies of all your lab reports (they have to give them to you if you ask for them).

See what your TSH is; that is the screening test they do to check your thyroid.

There are new "normal ranges" for TSH that some doctors still do NOT use.

Optimal TSH is low, around 1.0 or at least BELOW 2.0.

The old range was as high as 3.5 or even 5.5 (and some doctors still think that high is "nornal", it's NOT).

Do NOT settle for being told you are "in range". Find out what your number is. Get a copy of your lab report.
You want it to be low.

Un-diagnosed & undert treated hyothyroidism will make you sleep way too much, fatiqued , appear depressed, etc.

Also, have your ferritin level checked.

Ferritin = iron stores & is NOT the same thing as hemglobin.

Most doctors never check it and rely only on the hemeglobin level. It is not included in any "panel" and must be ordered seperately.

My ferritin level was 15.
Between 70 & 90 is OPTIMAL.

My hemeglobin was never below 12!

It was a chore to get through most days.
I got short of breath climbing one flight of stairs.
I had heart palpitations from low ferritin too.
