New drug interactions for Nuvigil

Bummer, but some of us on Celexa (anti-depressant) may not be able to take Nuvigil anymore. Just a few weeks ago they came out with a new list of drugs that can have serious heart interactions with Nuvigil. One of them was Citalopram (Celexa). The maximum amount of Celexa you should take with Nuvigil is 20 mg a day, and that still has serious warnings. The risk is QT Prolongation or Torsades de Pointes, which are both heart issues. If you continue taking both drugs, you shouldn't take them at the same time (take one in the morning, one at night) and should get EKGs occasionally to check for problems. Dang it!!! Just when I found something that worked on my energy level... The pharmacist gave me a list of the new interactions for Celexa.

If you're on Celexa (and it sounds like a lot of people with CFS are), you need to check with your doctor on these new label changes.
