    Robaxin not doing anything

My PM doctor prescribed Robaxin for me, 500mg tablets three times a day as needed. I don't technically have muscle spasms but I have tense and achy muscles in the lower back and rear end which is where my pain originates and this aspect flares up frequently. I haven't taken more than two at a time. I will be talking with him about this on Monday.

I also take MS Contin and Percoset.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I feel no relief, side effects or anything. Did a higher dose help? Did you try something else that worked better? Thanks.

    Re: Robaxin not doing anything

    Hi!

I've not taken Robaxin, so I don't have any idea how it works, but I have taken a couple of different muscle relaxers. Skelaxin worked, a little, but made me naseous. Baclofen worked for a short time, but the PM I was seeing at the time wasn't really giving me a large enough dose for it to be effective for the spasms I've got. I'm currently on Flexeril. For a number of reasons I ended up with my PCP (an internist) prescribing my PM meds. She tried Flexeril because I had taken it in the past for lumbar back problems and it had worked well for me. It makes a lot of people sleepy, but after a few days that wore off for me. It's been about a year and so far it's OK, not great, but OK.

If the Robaxin isn't working tell the Dr. There are quite a few different muscle relaxers that they can try. A lot of PM seems to be trial and error to find the best combination of meds with the least side effects.

Thanks. If you don't mind me asking, do you take it all the time?

Yes, I do. I've got CMP and muscle spasms are a big part of my problem. It doesn't even make me sleepy any more and works fairly well.
