Fentanyl patch not sticking.., any advice?

I am having so much trouble with this Fentanyl patch (75 mcg Watson)..that I'm about to lose my mind. The last 4 days I have been so sick..like the worst flu..doc switched me from Norco to Percocet..then I see my patch is not sticking. Im sweating so badly! Theres condensation under the patch so I'm concerned that it's not working...also air pockets. Any advice?

The best thing that worked for me was those clear sticky pads they use in hospitals to cover I.V. needles they put on you in the hospital. You can get them at any pharmacy. I could shower with no worries of the stupid thing coming off. I had tried everything even duct tape!!

Ok thank you! I tried the silk tape but as soon as I showered..it came right off. I will get some today.

the best is to wipe the area with rubbing alcohol fist then put it on then cover with the clear IV tape it's awesome and it breaths a little. It sounds like you are in withdrawals just put another on but leave the old one on till the new one kicks in. Good luck!

TEGADERM patches work amazingly well for me! My PM doc recommended. They are costly at your local pharmacy usually -- they are OTC.

Tegaderm occlusive dressings are available at the drugstore for an emergency but they are expensive (especially for use with the Watson's, which are much bigger than the Mylan brand). I use those now but some people say that are not as good as the Watson. They work great for me though.

This was a major problem for me when I 1st started using them this past summer. Now I use Bioclusives, which are cheaper than the Tegaderm in my experience. I buy 100 of them for around $60 .

Oh ok! Where do you get these Bioclusives? So you like the Mylan or the Watson?

You can get them within a few days. I actually prefer the Mylan brand. I've been on the patch since July and it's working wonderfully for me so far (& it will NOT fall off with a bioclusive--no way)!!

I love not taking so many pills & I do not miss waking up in pain.

    Good luck & God bless.

Cannot tell if you are a female, but I put mine under my bra, it really helps hold it in place.

you are not supposed to use alcohol at all at the site you are gonna place the patch-if you read the pamphlet that accompanies each box of (5)patches, there is a paragraph addressing it. i have used watson, mylan, sandoz, and they(the pamphlets) all say this. you are suppose to clean the area with water only-i use normal saline that comes in the spray can.

you do know if you call the manufacturer of the fentanyl patch they will send you the tagaderm patches free. they sent me 50 free patches. they are very expensive. i stopped using the fentanyl patch because even after getting the tagaderms i still had problems with the patches staying on.

    good luck!!
