Flu shot 3 months ago and symptoms

I got the flu shot 3 months ago. Yesterday I had weird symptoms. I thought I was coming down with a cold, but I never did. I was very sleepy. I took a nap in the morning , then fell asleep in the afternoon. I was worried I couldn't sleep last night, but I slept real well. I kept feeling like I would have to blow my nose, but not much came out. Do you think I came in contact with the flu bug, but because I had the shot, my immune system went to work to get rid of the bug? I'm fine today. Thanks for your thoughts.

The flu shot is to help protect you and the spread to others ONLY for the ones in the vaccine. There are many flu, cold and other viruses one can pick up. People who travel can bring back viruses we've never been exposed to, and we have little resistance or immunity to them....we are hopeful people will cover sneezes and coughs and wash their hands frequently.

You can take immune enhancing supplements, eat well, drink enough fluids, wash hands frequently, blow your nose often..especially after being out, don't touch your mouth, nose or eyes if hands are dirty....etc. At this point, you could consider the supplements. L-Lysine 1000mg twice daily can help lessen virus illness or help whatever you were fighting to stay at bay.

In saying all that, it sounds as though you have a good immune system and took advantage to rest/sleep. It could also have been a mild allergy or dry nostril membranes (which using sinus rinses are helpful.

Wishing you a healthy holiday season and in the new year (once people return sick from their holidays :-/ )
