Re: fastest way to get over cold??
Garlic capsules, take 2. Make sure it is the garlic that has ALLICIN in it. It's hard to find, but it's out there.

I find that extreme, utterly-pushing-yourself-to-your-sensible-limit exercise works wonders.

You're not suppose to exercise very hard when sick,it's not good for you.
Drink lots of water to flush your system, eat well and sleep.

Boiled lemonade is a very very good old fashioned remedy for clearing colds. It makes you bring up all that horrible stuff on the chest. It is actually the best thing i have ever tried for my cold.

I've always been told that orange juice works wonders. whenever I feel a sore throat coming on I immediately start drinking orange juice and I feel better really quickly.

Re: fastest way to get over cold??
Do the garlic, the chicken soup, and the green tea. They're all great. Don't take any cold medications. They only mask the symptoms for a while and prolong the duration of the cold. I like Cold-eze. Even though it's in the cold section at the drug store, it's not going to mask any symptoms. It's actually a mineral called Zinc and what it does is destroy the virus. If you were to take it at the first sign of a sore throat you might not even get a cold. Even if you did, it would be quick and mild compared to a regular cold.
P.S. Since I discovered Cold-Eze, I've had one cold. Didn't have any at the first sign, so I bought some the next day. My cold lasted two days and I hardly noticed it.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

Everything here sounds great except the exercise. Rest would be better.

Gargling with warm salt water about 4 times a will absolutely WORK WONDERS. Salt will kill the bacteria and you won't believe how quickly it will help. Please try won't believe the difference in just 2 days!

Re: fastest way to get over cold??
If the cold symptoms are just beginning vitamin C to bowel tolerance will pretty much squash them in less than 5 hours, I don't know how long it would take if the cold has already taken hold because I have only had one cold since I started taking vitamin C (when I didn't get enough sleep for a few days) and every time the symptoms started again I would squash them again with the C so they never took hold. I was doing this for about a week then I started getting enough sleep and the cold went away without ever taking hold. Normally I take 5 grams 2-3 times a day. When I was fighting the cold I took 15-18 grams first thing in the morning to reach bowel tolerance, plus more later in the day to keep my levels up. Usually 8 makes me reach bowel tolerance, so the cold raised my bowel tolerance level. The sicker you are the higher your tolerance level will be. Everyone is different in how much it takes to reach bowel tolerance. You can get more information on bowel tolerance for vitamin C on the internet. When you take more than 5 grams at once it is best to not take it on a full stomach or you may experience bloating.

It is supposed to work for flu, too, but I haven't had the chance to test it.

Re: fastest way to get over cold??
Have you thought about why you may be getting sick in the first place? Are you working long hours? Stressed out? Not eating right? Not enough sleep? When I forget about taking care of myself, I always end up sick!!!

Re: fastest way to get over cold??
Since it is the sore throat that triggers the cold the trick would be to avoid any thing that would irritate the throat. Such as ice, cigareetes etc.

Re: fastest way to get over cold??
I have been trying to find the answer for this question for a long time myself, infact I have a cold right now. I started taking green tea capsules several months ago, I drink alot of juices all the time but I still have a cold! I'm hoping now that maybe the green tea will make it go away faster.
