Re: Can colloidal silver help me with constant colds & viruses?
Colloidal silver is available online and in some health food stores. In my opinion, it seems to help fight disease, and it's good at soothing topical burns (like sunburn) but it's certainly not my first choice. It can cause an unsightly condition called "argyria" which turns your skin blue, permanently.
I would recommend Vitamins C and D in high doses (check with your doc first to see what's safe for you) and garlic supplements. Wash your hands a lot and drink a lot of water. Stay warm. Take good care of your teeth (mouth infections can go systemic). Try staying away from dairy foods, soda, fruit juices and anything cold and icy and sugary, ice cream being the worst. All of these should help keep your sinuses clear and your immune system stronger. I speak from hard experience!! Well, I don't have argyria, but I wouldn't want to get it. I take about 400 IU of Vitamin D every day and 400 mg of C. But if you're otherwise healthy, you could probably go much higher on the Vitamin C. Ask your doc.
Echinacea and goldenseal supplements (usually are in combo form with other stuff like cayenne) are good for when you're just starting to feel sick. Use them very carefully, like antibiotics, since goldenseal is a very powerful natural antibiotic. Stop using them after ten days and then start taking acidophilus or some other probiotic supplement, or Activia, Danactive, or one of those gut-boosting foods. It's VERY important to do it exactly the right way, or you will just make yourself sicker. Don't take goldenseal every day - that's like taking an antibiotic every day, which is terrible for you.
