Had flue now left with itchy lungs and throat

I was sick with the flue 4 weeks ago and had a few days of a mucus cough and then it left. What I have been left with is a itchy chest and throat! I don't cough through the night but find after I have stopped moving and sit down for a while that itch starts! usually on expelling air out of the chest. I end up coughing just to "scratch" it.
I was on antibiotics for the flue and my doctor did listen to my chest but said it sounded fine though my throat looked inflamed like I had been smoking (which I had not been)
I'm 32. Is this normal after the flue? and if so how long can it last?

    Thank you for any help.
