    Dr. Thomas Romo- revision rhino?

I read a lot about how awful a plastic surgeon Dr. Romo is on these boards, I think the work is actually pretty good on the revision rhinoplasties. For the people who went to him, I was just wondering what is so bad about him and his work before I think about going for a consultation?

    HM:
I answered you the other day but for some reason it was taken off. Believe me Dr Romo is not the plastic surgeon you want to see. His has been sued numerous times and the people have won. He has messed up my nose something terrrible because he was too stupid or just didn't care enough to know I has a sebatious cyst in my nose, and everytime he would fix it the puss would pour out of the skin on my nose, and then he would blame me and say I was making this puss because of my problems which is too long too get into on this site.

Romo cares more about getting his name in the paper and getting on television to care about everyday people that go to him. If your not rich and important his doesn't give a damn.

Thanks PitBull. Because of you sharing your experience, I cancelled my CT Scan that he was making me get, in order to go ahead with a procedure. No way I'm going through with that. And yes, I did notice the lawsuits... Thanks again.

    Katherine:

Your very welcome! No one should go through what I did with him.

    Good luck to you!

Re: Dr. Thomas Romo- revision rhino?

I was unfortunate to have used Dr. Romo in 1997 for an initial rhino procedure. I had less than 45 minutes of surgery, paid more than $7,000, and still need revision. My surgery primarily involved cartilage removal. He ended up uplifting my nose, which I did not want or know was going to be part of the procedure. My nose is still numb, more than 7 years later, and indented on one side. I had selected him in part, due to the fact that he is an otorolygist (specialist in inner workings of nose), and thought it important that my breathing integrity would take priority over the cosmetic end of the surgery. I had more than 9 consults before selecting him, and he was supposedly one of the best at that time. No matter how well you research, there is always a risk involved with rhinoplasty surgery because it is one of the most difficult plastic procedures to perform. I am looking for a specialist in revisions, hoping to get it right this time. I have read good things about Dr. Pastorek and Stephen Pearlman in NYC, and hope that someone can share opinions about them. I had also thought of Dr. Tobias, but am starting to read some negatives.

I don't wish anything on anyone, but what goes around comes around. Maybe one day Romo or one of his family members will suffer the way we have, only then will he realize what he has done to so many of us.

Plastic surgeons should get a botched rhino as a requirement before they are allowed to do rhinos, this way they know what it feels like.

    poorhouse:

Pearlman did my primary a few years ago, and I was not happy with the results. I found that he did not understand my concerns. He is a fairly good plastic surgeon, but I have come to believe that rhinoplasty is such a difficult surgery only one of the top five in the world could really get this right. In other words, if I had to do this all over again I would never do rhinoplasty - it is too unpredictable. Even after a few revisions with other plastic surgeons in the NYC area, my situation has only become worse. Whoever you pick to do your revision, make sure you pick that person because they are the BEST, not for convenience, location or price.

Pearlman has active lawsuits against him. I wouldnt consider him a revisionist. Pastorek refers complicated cases to Toriumi in Chicago.
