    Question costochondritis or what

Around Jan 11th I started having small sharp pains and a nagging discomfort in my chest. I ignored it and chalked it up to stress. I had been having a problem with my left knee since last summer and finally went to an ortho dr and started on inflammatory drugs and received an injection of cortisone in my knee a few days later the pain in my chest was pretty intense. My dr was out of town so I ended up in ER undergoing every possible heart tests they could think of. Was sent home with several types of stomach meds and told it was my esophagus, back to a dr to was filling in for my regular dr same thing more meds for stomach and sent to a gastroentorologist (Ican't spell) He diagnosed me with costochondritis. I am taking stomach meds, 2 aleve 2 times per day for inflammation after I have already taken a full script of steriods. It is now Feb 25 and the pain is very intense. I have loratab for my migraines which i have been taking in order to stay out of the er at $250 deductible each time. the loratabs do not get rid of the pain they just make it bearable. I can barely eat or drink and am afraid of pain killers and also afraid of dehydrating. Gastronentorolost called today to set up upper endoscopy. I am very confused. Oh also during this time my mammagram came back back, also the ultrasound and finally a diagnostic compression mammagram says small lump in left breast. I am so confused, scared and tired please any ideas?

    Hi There
Sorry to hear what your going thru ...if this is costo then one thing I can recommend is try not to get stressed as it makes it worse...I know easier said than done also from your message I would go back to your family dr have him/her review all the results from all the tests you have done and go from there ...I am not a dr in any way but am a long time suffer of costo ..
    Feel better ....

Hi, I recently went thru an ordeal of severe rib pain but it wasn't what you have we think it was caused by cipro. Mine was on the side of my ribs about where your elbow falls naturally.

I was in so much pain you couldn't even touch the skin. I went to my pain mgt dr. And he injected me with steroids in the ribs at two places and after about 5-7 days it went away. I have read you can also do this for costocondritis. Maybe look into this more, find a pain dr call and see if they treat it. Good luck, cathy
