Newbie with Lupus and Crohns disease

Hi! I'm new to the site and very interested in getting to know and talking to others who experience some of the same things that I do. Quick History about me- I'm 26 yrs old I was diagnosed with Lupus at age 22 and Crohns disease at age 24. It has been a battle every since the very beginning. I'm currently having a flare with both my Lupus and Crohns. I'm so excited that I found this site because no one really understands unless they are actually going through or have gone through what you have. Please, please send advice or questions.

Re: Newbie with Lupus and Crohns disease

Hi & welcome! I saw your post last week & got side-tracked with family problems---sorry!

I wish I had real advice, but it's more like questions! Do your specialists (rheumie & gastro) work together & consult when needed? Are you on meds for both the lupus & the Crohn's? Is this your first big "double flare" since you were Dx'ed with lupus?

Starting in my mid-20's, I had 20+ years of recurrent, fierce GI episodes. Because repetitive tests didn't find evidence of *inflammatory* bowel disease, the gastros just didn't know what to make of me. So I took Librax for years, but it didn't help. Then, after I was finally Dx'ed with lupus, mere Plaquenil literally vanquished my GI symptoms. So in that regard, I've been extremely lucky. But I experienced enough to be able to imagine what you're dealing with, and my heart goes out. Hope you post more when you can. With my best wishes, Vee

Re: Newbie with Lupus and Crohns disease

Thanks so much for the response! Yes, my rheumie and gastro work together and whats really great is that they already knew each other. No, this is not my first "double flare" its my forth!!! I am currently taking Plaquenil and Immuran for the Lupus and Entocort for the Crohns. I just finished a round of Predisone. I'm feeling much better today just a little fatigue which is expected with the Lupus and case of anemia that I have. Again thanks, hope to talk to you soon. BB.
