Dentist won't give bite block for extraction. 😫🤐

I had a tooth on the lower left side pulled a few days ago. I'm pretty mad about how the dentist DID NOT LISTEN to my SEVERAL requests for a bite block, as this isn't my first rodeo. He just kept saying, "you'll be fine" and guess what- I'm NOT FINE! The extraction site is fine, but my jaw hurts sooo bad, I've basically been in tears ever since. Is there a special way you can get a dentist to listen to you, and give you the bite block? I ask because this isn't the first time this has happened. I'm not sure if I just don't ask using the right keyword or something. Why are they so resistant? I need quite a bit more work done, so I would like to try a different approach, AT A DIFFERENT DENTIST, and I will be using the gas, because it eases my nerves. By advice is appreciated...

Are you talking about a nerve block or the device they put in your mouth to stabilize the jaws when mouth is opened?

You're using the right term "bite block", and the DDS should be willing to provide one. A thought is to possibly bring something from home to use next time if the DDS won't provide one.

Bite Block: is usually a rubber or styrofoam wedge that is put between your teeth to assist in keeping your jaw open to take the strain off your jaw muscles.

Good Luck!
