    Hello,

    I had a front tooth pulled on Saturday and have swelling, bruising and some pain (no dry socket though). I've also noticed that I started to get some pain and discomfort in the adjacent canine, especially if I knock it. I'm guessing this may be because it is next to the extraction site where the swelling is and I really hope there's nothing wrong with the tooth itself.

    Does anybody else have a similar experience of this kind of post extraction discomfort? And how long does it take to resolve itself?

    The same thing happened to me except I had 4 teeth pulled. It's not really as bad if you take something to alliviate the pain. It should stop hurting within a week or so...Well, that's how it was for myself anyways.

    I had nine lower teeth pulled and the swelling lasted about 4 or 5 days and the bruising almost a week. The dentist told me to keep alternating between ice packs for 20 minutes then wait for 45 mins. and put a heat pack on it. I used a heating pad and it did help the major swelling.

    Thanks for your replies - did any of you also start getting some discomfort in the adjacent teeth following the extraction?

    Argh - still got pain this morning. Somebody please reassure me that I'm not being a paranoid android about this.

    Hi. Well I'm still in pain today, in fact it feels worse than yesterday. Today I also seem to have pain radiating from the extraction socket down most of the teeth on the left side of my face. I'm beginning to think that I may have a dry socket although I can still see a small bit of the clot when I look down the whole and I did have the tooth pulled last Saturday so I'm guessing its probably too late to have a dry socket now. Any experiences of this anybody?

    If the pain is getting worse, not better, I would check back with the dentist tomorrow (Monday) - better safe than sorry.
    Good luck...I know that there's not much worse than tooth pain.
