    Angry Crown Fitting Issues

    Hello.....

I am having serious issues with this dentist. She has fitted me 4 times for the same 2 crowns. Each time they come back, they dont fit right even if she adjusts them.

This is becoming annoying. I paid for one and the insurance company paid for one. I called them and they are absolutely no help as far as guiding me about what I can do. I have an appointment to go back to see about the 4th fitting next month.

I have never had a crown but I cant see how any of this is normal. I dont know what to do. I really want my money back so I can go somewhere else for the crowns. I paid way too much to be dealing with this drama. When will it end if it havent already.

    Any advice.........please!

    Thanks,

    CB

    Re: Crown Fitting Issues

    Hi CB,

MY nighmare story with an onlay(partial crown) and 3 inlays and bite adjustment which I paid $7,000 for has been a nightmare.

I went to a bite specialist prosthodontist who I paid the $7,000 to.
My bite has been screwed up for a few years. He knew it didn't fit when he placed it(he did two opposite teeth at the same time). I even had my jaw X-rayed and the jaw specialist said my jaw problems were due to bad unnecessary dental work and ill-fitting restorations. The dentist agreed to refund me the cost of one crown approx $1,500 but then insisted that I sign a waiver meaning that I would never sue which on principal I refuse to do.
Visit my postings on the tmjd board as my jaw is screwed up from the bad fitting crown. I can imagine your bite is messed up too. The problem is when they keep refitting and adjusting nobody can tell what the right fit is including your teeth, your jaw and everything keeps shifting. IT's a form of torture as far as I'm concerned. I tried to get $5,000 back from the dentist in return for signing the waiver because of all the pain and suffering and two of mine needing to be replaced. But he's not budging. SO my only options now are to sue or report him to the dental board.

Have you tried asking your dentist for the refund --- she must know they don't fit. BUt believe me all these replacing and adjustments can make things much worse. But I feel horrible 24/7 from my teeth they are too short(all my rear molars were done with inlays onlayy) and they've just been shaved down too much that there's no hope other than to live in constant discomfort 24/7.

But you may try making a stink with the dentist and to unload you she may refund some money.

    Good Luck

    Re: Crown Fitting Issues

    Thx for the feedback.....

I requested a refund and it was granted. Maybe she was tired of me as I was of her. Well I'm quite sure I was more tired of her.

My new problem is finding someone else to complete the work as my temporary crown is gone and I'm scared if I wait tooooooooo long, my teeth will shift. What I wouldnt give to have a dentist in the family.

Well at least I got my money back........

    Thx for the advice!

    Re: Crown Fitting Issues

Good jod. You never should of had that much trouble with the fitting of the crowns. Unless you did something wrong (like temp came off and you didn't get it put back on or you waited to long to get the perment crowns places usually takes about 2-3 weeks to get the real crown). Which it sounds like didn't happen or they wouldn't have given you a refund. Crowns should go right on now ocassionally the 1st crown may not fit right due to impression not being very good or somethins. That can happen, but for you to have to have the same crown redone 4 times is uncalled for. Once yea i can understand, but never that much. Good job for standing your ground and getting that money back. You are right you need to get in asap to get those crowns done cause you teeth can shift. That could cause some gum discomfort too. Good Luck at your next visit.

    Re: Crown Fitting Issues

I think if the crowns didn't fit 4 times then its clearly the dentist fault. She probably didn't get all the decay off of the tooth.
