Dark spot on gum by Crown..normal?

Well, I noticed when I looked in the mirro that there is this large dark spot by my gum that they put the crown on today, for the root canal...when I had the temp one on, there was nothing but pink gum and white fake tooth. Now, there is the porcelain tooth but dark space by the side of one of the gums( other side looks fine in the dental mirror) I tried using the scaler thing to see if it can fit between there, as in is it a hole where the crown isn't meeting my gum line or not---while it doesn't seem to be fitting in there, I wonder what this is and if it is not fitted right? It feels just fine. Could this be a result of the glue they use to cement it on there? Would it be black though? I have no idea what this could be--thanks!

That is just the way they tend to look. I have 2 that show a very small area of dark where the crown ends.

Is the dark area on the gum or along the margin of the crown? Is there a space (where you can fit an instrument, toothpick) between the margin of the crown and the tooth? Is there inflammation, bleeding or swelling in the area? Difficult to tell without looking. If it is the gum, it could be from retraction cord (cord that opens up gum and decreases bleeding) or it could be slight trauma from the procedure. If it is at the crown margin it could be the metal from the crown. It this a front or back tooth? Phone the office or have the dentist take a peek for your peace of mind.
