Post nasty taste after wisdom teeth removal

    hi,
8 days ago i got 2 impacted wisdom teeth removed.. i healed fairly quickly and got my stitches out in only 6 days.. on the 5th day i started getting this oozing feeling and nasty taste coming from the bottom extraction site.. my surgeon said its from the stitches being in there and all the build up of food and blood for 6 days.. she said i looked amazing and healed so fast.. but its still happening.. im rinsing every 30 minutes, and brushing like 7 times a day!! it tastes soooo nasty!! and now im have a habbit of sucking it out instead of it letting it come out on its own.. im starting to hurt it..

anyone ever have this happen after this procedure? if so, when will it stop?

p.s i have no holes due to how impacted the tooth was.. everything was sewed right back into place.. so no food can get stuck..

    Hi there Kerry21,
I didnt personally experiance that, but all my friends (and I mean EVERYONE) that had their wisdom teeth did experiance that. I am almost positive then that there is nothing wrong, and if the surgeon said that also, that means there probably is nothing to worry about and will probably go away soon, just hang in there girl

    Hello again Kerry21,

I think you're hanging in there great, it will be all over soon, all the nasty stuff. remember when we insisted on getting all four out at the same time. Well now you will have to go through all of this again. And just to let you know, I remember the stitches, they were the worst part of it all!! They were so gross and nasty, they were tied off between my last two molars and every time I ate, I chewed on them, then I could feel them pulling my gums when I chewed on them. I was the worst, and they tasted awful. I was supposed to wait 10 days I think before I could get them out, by the 7th day I was back in the office begging them to take them out. They wouldn't, so I suffered through it for a couple more days. Hang in there, you'll make it, I promise.

I am a Registered Dental Hygienist. What you are experiencing is "perfectly normal" after extractions BUT my question is, What are you rinsing with? Start brushing you teeth with baking soda NOT BAKING SODA TOOTHPASTE. Baking soda neutralizes the acids in your mouth and sweetens your breath. It would not be a bad idea to swish with a small amount of peroxide first. You know when you have a cut on your arm and put peroxide on it, it "bubbles" well it will bubble out some of the bacteria in your mouth. Use the peroxide first, until you feel it foam in your mouth, spit that out and then brush with baking soda and see if you don't feel much better. Do this every other day for a week and you will see a marked improvement.
