Question Bone splinters?

Hi Jcoasternut,

I was reading your reply to my sore spots problems and i noticed that you said something about bone splinters. What are bone splinters? how do you know that you have one? Are they frequent and most of all do they hurt?

Bone splinters are just that, pieces of jaw bone that have splintered during extractions. They either eventually work their way out or reabsorb. Sometimes you can see them, sometimes you can feel them with your tongue. I had them when I had my wisdom teeth out when I was young, so I was already familiar with them. They gradually go away. Mine are almost gone now. Some people have none, some like me have several.

Yes, they hurt when pressure is applied such as chewing is applied. Some people attempt to remove them with tweezers themselves. I am not that daring though. Hope you don't get any. Mine appeared about the 10-15 mark and now are almost all gone.
