Braces with loose brackets

My daughter had braces put on last Thursday. A couple of hours after
we got back home one of the brackets came loose. We went back to
the ortho and he re-cemented it. Now, Saturday night another bracket
is loose. The looseness was not caused by biting on anything hard or sticky. Is it normal to have brackets detach like this? I was surprised that the cement has not bonded better.

Re: Braces with loose brackets

This can happen. If she was careful with what she ate, then it sounds as though it's due to the cement not bonding properly. Sometimes the brackets can become loose simply by pressure from another tooth. Ask the orthodontist if these are high stress areas. If the brackets are just popping off on random teeth and she followed the rules with what to eat and not eat and brushing, then it's more than likely the cement.
