nasal bleeding after tooth extraction

I had a tooth extracted--upper, second tooth behind canine--and about an hour after I left the doctor's office blood poured out of my nose. The dentist is playing it down but I feel this is serious. How serious is this and does it indicate shoddy dental work? The tooth was a "missing" tooth and he went in to extract the "beneath the gum-line" part of the tooth.

Re: nasal bleeding after tooth extraction

Roots of upper teeth are real close to your sinus cavity. It's possible it was perforated. If that's the case, sometimes it can heal on it's own, sometimes they have to close it up.
