Tooth extraction at home

I have a horrible mouth and an intense fear of dentists stemming from many painful and bad experiences as a child so.. I finally had a root canal done after enduring 2 years of pain. The root canal was done and a temporary filling was put in. 2 weeks after that I was eating something soft when 1/4 of that tooth fell out, leaving a very sharp leftover piece of old filling. I pulled that piece out with some needle nose pliers. Now I'm not going back to the dentist to have it extracted, I'm going to do it myself at home. I don't want to spend the money or worse go to the dentist. It's the very back last molar on the bottom. I'm wondering if you have any suggestions that will make it easier and quicker to get it out. I know I should go to the dentist but I'm NOT. Any suggestions?

Re: Tooth extraction at home

DO NOT try this surgery yourself! Suppose the entire tooth does not come out and you get a resulting infection in the jawbone? Suppose the roots are wrapped around your jaw bone and yanking breaks the bone itself?
You can do such SERIOUS damage to yourself trying this. What happens if you screw it up? There is alot more to pulling a tooth than just getting a pair of pliers and yanking.

Make it easier and go to the dentist and have it done right the first time. The expense in terms of money and pain trying it yourself are not worth it, esp for a large multi-rooted molar tooth.

What you are proposing is extremely risky.

Hope this helps and Good Luck. Try it yourself and you will need it.
Best to you,

I agree. You just don't know where the roots are either and if you'll get all of them. Plus I do think the dr. puts you on antibiotics when you get a tooth extracted. It could turn into an abcess and you don't want that. Please don't do this. CJ
