    Broken tooth on dentures

My dad's dentures has a front broken tooth. Psychologically it is bothering him and I have noticed him biting into his food on the "good" side only. However, Medicaid has refused to have them repaired because they say the half of the tooth is not causing any physical problems. Does anyone know if this will cause any problems? I have appealed but I would like to have more info to present when they call me.

I don't have any experience with Medicaid, but I would say to get his dentist to write a letter that you can present with your appeal stating the trouble with only having half a tooth.

Just take the denture to a dental technician. It should be possible to replace the tooth at a reasonable price.

I agree, I think that is a good idea. Along with the dentist's note I think you should also include a photo of the denture in the mouth. Insurance companies are much more helpful when they have a visual.
    That is RIDICULOUS of them!

I dont know who told your dad that medicaid will not pay for a tooth off a denture but they will. I am 100% sure that they will. The code is D5520 his dentist is being lazy.
